In news that should shock no one, Facebook announced today that Oculus Connect 7 will not have a physical presence due to the ongoing health risk of Covid-19. While it’s disappointing that one of the biggest VR events of the year is being affected, shifting an event that highlights the ability to enter another world from your own living room to a digital format actually makes a lot of sense.

Facebook had this to say over at the Oculus Blog:

“This was a tough decision to make, but we need to prioritize the health and safety of our developer partners, employees, and everyone involved in OC7. Oculus Connect gives us an unprecedented opportunity to connect with our global developer community. OC7 will be no exception, and we look forward to sharing more details about the digital event in the coming months.”

We don’t have an exact date for Oculus Connect 7 but it is typically held in late September.
