We’re just a couple of days out from the Oculus Quest release of Jaywalker Interactive and Vertigo Games’ fantastic Arizona Sunshine. To drum up a bit of hype and to get would-be zombie apocalypse survivors pumped to play the game, the developers and publisher have released some gameplay footage captured directly from an Oculus Quest headset.
If you’ve played Arizona Sunshine before, whether on PSVR or PCVR, you’ll probably notice the lower fidelity graphics. However, that’s not a terrible trade-off. The Oculus Quest isn’t as capable as a PS4 or a high-end VR-capable PC, so it’s to be expected. From what we can see in the short trailer, it doesn’t look awful at all. The developer has rebuilt the game completely for the Quest, so it’s expected there would be some trade-offs. That said, being able to play completely untethered will most probably be worth any and all differences between the upcoming release and the existing versions.
Due to the Quest version being bespoke to the hardware, there won’t be any cross-buy initiative with this release. It’s a shame, but I can understand it. It means you’ll either have to buy it twice if you want to play on PC, too, or you’ll have to decide what’s more important to you: fancy graphics or wire-free gameplay?
The video is embedded up above, so give it a look and then pull a sicky on Thursday to spend the day shooting zombies in the face.
